James Baldwin from his interview with LIFE magazine in 1963:

“You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, or who had ever been alive.”

When I write, 90% of it is me blabbering and the other 10% is me trying to capture my experiences and emotions truthfully. I hope one day the ratio will be the opposite and I will be able to write something that provides the same solace I get from relatable art—whether it’s music, essays, memes, or TikToks (but mostly memes).
Thanks for reading!
